It used to be that, when Saskatoon Police needed training space, they would have to rent a suitable facility. But now, with the new headquarters, the training can be done in-house. On top of that, training that used to be carried out in Regina can now be done in Saskatoon in partnership with the Saskatchewan Police College. All of that means saving money, not to mention the convenience for officer who would otherwise have to travel to Regina. When all the pennies have been counted The Police Department figures it is saving over $92 thousand taxpayer dollars per year. The department also note the advantages the new building provides in making space available for things like a round dance or a simple basketball game with at-risk youth.
