Tourism Saskatoon is seeking funding from the City of Saskatoon to go towards the 2020 Juno Awards. That request i son the agenda at today’s (mon) Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services meeting. Tourism Saskatoon is looking for $350,000 dollars from the city. The recommendation from city administration is to approve the money if Saskatoon wins the bid to host the Junos and that Tourism Saskatoon submit a final event application package for review by the Special Event Adjudication Committee. Last week, Tourism Saskatoon CEO Todd Brandt said the event could generate between 10-million and 12 million dollars in economic activity. According to a city report, the host city for the 2020 Junos will likely be announced by the end of 2018.
