The state of the Saskatchewan economy dominated debate in the legislature on Monday. NDP leader Ryan Meili pointed to higher taxes, reduced services and rising poverty.

Trade minister Jeremy Harrison says the latest jobs report indicates Saskatchewan has gained 9400 jobs, the largest rise since 2014, and wholesale trade is up 11.4 percent this year. Harrison also says the NDP suggestion to hike the minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour would kill jobs.

Meili countered that the SaskParty government has doubled the debt and doubled the PST, all while Alberta’s economy grows at double the pace of Saskatchewan.  (CKRM)
