The president of the Saskatchewan Medical Association says he and other physicians from across the province are eager to hear from the CEO of Alberta Health Services about amalgamation and where they are a decade after it happened. Dr. Verna Yiu will speak to delegates at the SMA’s fall assembly in Regina this morning on that topic. It has just about been one year since Saskatchewan dissolved its 12 health regions into one. Dr. Siva Karunakuran says a game-plan can be formed about the experiences Alberta went through over the last 10 years. Provincial health minister Jim Reiter will also speak to and answer questions from delegates on concerns they have with healthcare right now. Karunakuran says physician wellness and how to achieve it is also on the two-day agenda.
