Nearly 100 correctional officers are expected to be milling about Ralph Goodale’s offices in Regina today (fri). Goodale is the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness in the Trudeau government. The officers will be demonstrating against the Prison Needle Exchange Program.
Beginning last June, Correctional Service Canada implemented the Program at one two institutions as the initial stage of a phased in approach. The CSC says the idea is to strengthen ongoing efforts to prevent and manage infectious disease in federal penitentiaries and in the community.
