Saskatchewan RCMP announced that there would be several SGI High visibility Enforcement Check Stops over the weekend, and they were true to their word.
Over 1700 vehicles passed through the various check stops with 80 tickets issued under the Traffic Safety Act, 22 under Alcohol and Gaming Regulations, and about 4 vehicles failed a safety inspection, 1 was impounded and 1-and-a-half pounds of cannabis was seized from one vehicle
There were also 5 roadside suspensions related to impaired driving.
The stop checks on Highway 11 at Chamberlain and east of Saskatoon on Highway 16 included officers from the Combined Traffic Services Section, which includes RCMP and municipal police.
In North Battleford, the checks were held in 4 different school zones with RCMP and Community Safety Officers.
