With humans having effects on ecosystems around the planet, soil researchers have proposed a new soil, anthroposols.
These are soils that are primarily used by humans to patch a disturbance at places including landfills and housing developments.
Michael Bendzsak of the Saskatchewan Research Council did research to see whether or not arthroposols could be used instead of natural soil for trees, that answer is yes.
Bendzsak also says anthroposols are made up of whatever a person chooses to put into it.
For an example, if someone was to use peat, peat does not pose a health risk therefore that soil would be safe to use without any health risks to humans.
Typically anthroposols are used to patch a disturbance, that includes gravel underneath roads that are used to help support the road.
That’s why Bendzsak conducted his research and found that the soil can also host organic matter including trees.
