The RCMP and SGI are trying to make Saskatchewan’s roads safer through a traffic enforcement initiative this weekend. It’s official title is High Visibility Enforcement. Officers will be speaking to drivers and performing general safety checks, checking on driver impairment ad making sure vehicle standards are being met. Police will also be checking for up-to-date license and registration. The RCMP aren’t giving any detail as to where the check stops are planned other than to say both high traffic routes and smaller, less travelled roads are on the list and they could occur any time of day or night. Police continue to target what are known as the “Big 4” – impaired driving, seatbelt use, aggressive driving and distracted driving. They are the leading causes of death and injury on Canadas roads.
