The Saskatoon Blades have swapped 19-year-old forwards with the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Logan Christensen is leaving the bridge city for the gas city with the Blades acquiring Gary Haden.
Haden had a breakout season last year with 17 goals and 25 assists and became available after requesting a trade out of Tiger town. He had a goal and two assists in nine games with Medicine Hat this season.
G-M Colin Priestner said Haden has speed and can play centre or left wing and could end up along side fellow former Tiger Max Gerlach. Prestner said he likes being able to pick up a potential 60-point player without giving up a high draft choice.
Priestner said it was tough to trade Christensen as the veteran centre was the first drafted player he ever signed. However, Priestner pointed out Christensen’s point production has fallen off and would remain third on their centre-ice depth chart behind Kirby Dach and Chase Wouters. Christensen had a goal and two assists in 13 games this season.
He hopes Christensen with thrive with a change of scenery.
Haden is expected to make his Blades debut Friday night in Red Deer as the Blades open a three game road trip with games Saturday in Edmonton and Sunday in Calgary. All Blades games can be heard on 98-COOL.
