A summary deficit of $303 million is on the books, in Saskatchewan, which the government says is a $393 million improvement over the deficit projected in the budget. The province says it reduced spending on ministry travel by 2.1 million in the 2017-18 fiscal year. Total travel expenses rang in at $35 million. Finance Minister Donna Harpauer says, “We’re managing spending closely, while continuing to invest in priorities for Saskatchewan people.” Communication costs rose 0.6 per cent to $6.7 million. Harpauer says the government plans to return to a balanced budget in the 2019-20 year.
