Hundreds of unionized and non-unionized workers are expected to gather on the grounds of the Legislature at noon Thursday. The Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union says they will hold the government accountable for wasting billions of dollars on corporate handouts and failed projects while cutting public services. President Bob Bymoen says the government has no interest in helping everyday people get ahead. Instead, Bymoen says, “They are giving taxpayer’s money to multinational corporations and Sask Party-friendly executives.” The SGEU says billions have been wasted on things like the GTH land scandal, the Regina Bypass, the Boundary Dam carbon capture project, LEAN consultants, and defective smart meters.
