The City of Prince Albert has decided to change its approach to legal counsel. Traditionally, the city has hired a single staff lawyer to provide day-to-day legal services. Now, the city has contracted out City Solicitor services to Mitchell Holash of the Novus Law Group. It’s a two-year term ending in September of 2020. The city says the contract offers cost reductions and efficiencies. Holash, or an associate, will establish operating hours at an office within City Hall. The agreement follows a 14 month vacancy in the city’s in-house solicitor position. City manager Jim Toye says this approach gives the city access to a team of lawyers instead of a single employee.
