The City of Saskatoon is proposing to sell the old bus barns in Caswell Hill. The city is seeking approval to sell parts of the old bus barns in stages, starting with the block that’s north of 24th Street West. That’s the area that is considered to require the greatest degree of environmental remediation. A city report says developers have expressed interest in purchasing the portion that the city would like to sell first. Another point to be considered is that in any redevelopment of the bus barns, is the South Caswell Concept Plan and the city report has acknowledged that selling off the bus barns could result in developments that don’t follow the concept plan. The plan has envisions for specific uses for parts of the location including town houses, parking and a park south of 24th Street. The Finance Committee will discuss the matter at today’s (mon) meeting.
