The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is in the midst of an election campaign. The Joint Indian Government Commission and Executive Council have decided that, until the election, there will be no Interim Chief. Administration will continue under the Executive Operating Officer. Chief Clarence Bellegarde was appointed Interim Chair of the Joint Commission and Council. The Executive Council meets next week to provide oversight and direction concerning the operations and governance of the FSIN during the campaign. The election is set for October 25th.
There are three open positions on the FSIN Executive. Seeking re-election as Chief is Bobby Cameron. He is up against Delbert Wapass. Morley Watson and Darin Poorman areĀ running forĀ First Vice Chief. Edward “Dutch” Lerat, Corey Bugler, and Christian Jack are vying for Third Vice Chief. The FSIN Election Legislative Assembly will be held in Saskatoon.
