A Saskatchewan MP’s Private Member’s Bill passed second reading in the House of Commons, and will now proceed to committee.
Bill C-369, introduced by NDP MP Georgina Jolibois last fall would make National Indigenous Peoples Day a statutory holiday.
She says if Canadians are committed to Reconciliation, it is our duty to think about the time of celebration Indigenous people have created for themselves.
She looks forward to seeing her bill studied at committee and reaching third reading.
