Saskatoon Crime Stoppers describes it as crushing crime, one stolen bike recovered at a time.
The social media message notes that some stolen bikes are never found but police know that criminals steal them for joyriding, to commit other crime and are used as a type of currency to purchase drugs.
There have been over 700 bikes stolen in Saskatoon this year but even if the bikes are found or seized, police say it is almost impossible to get them back to their owners if they failed to record the bike’s serial number.
