Saskatchewan teachers now have a two-year contract after negotiations between the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation and the provincial government went to arbitration.
The arbitration board’s contract contains no salary increase for the first year and a one per cent increase at the end of the second year.
The agreement expires next year on August 31st.
STF President Patrick Maze says the salary package may seem disappointing to teachers, but it’s a different story if you compare it to the government’s demand for a 3.67 per cent wage rollback.
The arbitrator rejected a government proposal to cut teacher sick leave and on the other side of the bargaining table, declined to accept a teacher proposal that would have addressed issues around class size and composition.
