The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations’ Executive is outraged by the court decision that says the Justice for our Stolen Children Camp at Wascana Park must be dismantled.
Chief Bobby Cameron says the provincial government refuses to honour the Inherent and Treaty Rights of First Nations people.
He says this only solidified what he and the executive has known for years – that the rights of First Nations children are not a priority for Saskatchewan of the Justice system.
Organizers for the protest camp have stated they plan to appeal.
Regina Police Chief Evan Bray won’t be speaking about the Queen’s Bench court decision that the Justice for our Children camp should be dismantled.
He wants to take some time to ready the decision thoroughly and consult with stakeholders.
He adds that the Regina Police Service retains discretion as to the manner of enforcement of the Order, and says there is time to communicate with all parties with the goal of a peaceful resolution.
