Statistics Canada says investment in new housing construction fell 24.3 per cent in Saskatchewan in June from the same month the year before. That was by far, the largest decline of the three provinces that saw a drop. Manitoba was off 3.4 per cent and Alberta was down 2.7 per cent. Nationally, investment rose 6.3 per cent. The $23.7 million decline here was a result of lower spending on single home construction. Total spending in Saskatchewan in June was $73.8 million.
