It’s my Parting Shot for some Weekend Short Shots…
I take a few days off and Rider Nation is going ballistic! Even on a bye week, Chris Jones finds a way to upset the fan base. This time, it was by releasing Duron Carter…the same guy that many fans didn’t want on the team when he was first brought in last year. There is plenty of speculation as to why the move was made, but nothing has been discovered and revealed, with certainty, just yet! Then, Jones brings back Rob Bagg after cutting him just as training camp ended. That got a lot of tongues wagging. The only thing left for the Saskatchewan Roughriders G-M and head coach to do to shock and disturb the province would be to admit he voted for Donald Trump in the last U-S election!
Yes, I’ll watch most any sport on television…even tennis! While it wasn’t a major tournament on yesterday, it was an all-Canadian match-up between Milos Raonic and Denis Shapovalov. In the end, Raonic won in straight sets at the Western and Southern event in Cincinnati…his powerful serve and volley game just too much for El Shapo to handle. The result also proved what I’ve long believed…when he is healthy and serving well, Raonic is Canada’s best chance to win a major singles tournament!
And, I’m taking the last four days of my 2017-18 fiscal year holiday time next week. When I return, it will be just in time for Blades’ training camp to start. Yes, that was a chill you just felt as I said that…and, you’re welcome!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
