When it comes to team sports and awards, it seems as though nobody likes winners…except for members of the winning team and its fans.
After the National Lacrosse League announced seven different award winners from the 2018 season the last week-and-a-half, the N-L-L Cup-champion Saskatchewan Rush finally have their first award winner! G-M and head coach Derek Keenan was named the recipient of the Les Bartley Head Coach-of-the-Year award Thursday. It’s his fourth time copping the honour. Keenan piloted the Rush to their third league title in the last four years following a regular season-best 14-4 record. Saskatchewan’s architect has taken part in an N-L-L record 13 finals with nine championships to his credit as either a player, coach or general manager. Three more individual awards remain to be handed out, capped by the announcement of the All-Pro and Rookie teams next Wednesday.
