The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission says a complaint that dates back to December of 2014 has been settled through mediation.

Simon Ash-Moccasin claims Regina Police forcibly detained him even though he didn’t match the description of the suspect they were looking for and says the arrest was based on race.

The Indigenous man was later released.

Regina Police apologized and agreed to train and educate its officers to improve inter-racial relations and prevent discrimination.

Ash-Moccasin also got monetary compensation.
