The Saskatchewan government has declared July 15th to 21st as Drowning Prevention Week in the Province.
Sask Parks is reminding visitors to be safe when or near water in provincial parks and other sites throughout Saskatchewan.
Park, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky says they want to see visitors take full advantage of the fun water activities available at lakes across the province and that safety in parks has always been a top priority. Life jacket loaner stations are stocked with a variety of sizes of lifejackets and are available at 6 provincial parks including Pike Lake, Echo Valley, Regina Beach, Katepwa Point, Great Blue Heron and Good Spirit Lake.
Drowning prevention and water safety activities are also scheduled this week in three provincial parks.
Below is a full list of drowning prevention activities happening this week:
July 18th and 20th: 2 p.m. Douglas Provincial Park: Drowning prevention info and activities at the beach
July 19th: 1-3 p.m. Good Spirit Provincial Park: Live Saving Society display at the main beach
July 20th: Meadow Lake Provincial Park: Red Cross Water Safety Discovery Table at Greig Lake
