Their resilience got them a point in the standings, but once again the Saskatoon Blades deserved two, if not for their inability to finish on great scoring chances, as they dropped a 5-4 decision in overtime Sunday to the Hitmen in Calgary.

Captain Carter Sanderson scored his W-H-L-leading 16th goal of the season at 3:42 of O-T as the Hitmen improved to 8-5-0 for the campaign. The Bridge City Bunch battled back from a 4-1 deficit three minutes into the third period to force extra time. For the 10th time in 12 games, the Blue and Gold held a wide edge in shots on goal through regulation time – 39-21 in this case – but had issues with beating Calgary goaltender Eric Tu. However, an egregious puck-handling error by the 18-year-old Hitmen netminder allowed the Blades to start their comeback. Ben Bowtell opened the scoring, Hunter Laing sparked the third period comeback with Jordan Martin and Kain Martiniuk tallying to get Saskatoon back to even terms. Defenceman Tyrone Sobry chipped in two assists for the Bridge City Bunch, now 6-4-2 for the season. The Blue and Gold complete a three-game Alberta road trip on Tuesday in Red Deer.
