It’s my Parting Shot for Week 21 C-F-L picks from T-F-P…..
Oh boy, Week 20 might’ve been the end of 60 per cent correctness for The Fearless Predictor! Only Edmonton came through while Ottawa, the Riders and Calgary did what I didn’t think they could, thanks in large part to coaches resting key players! Oh well, on to the 21st and final week…
…beginning with the Friday night opener as Montreal goes to Toronto. Will Alouettes’ head coach Jason Maas rest Davis Alexander, Tyson Philpot and other key starters a second straight week, going into a bye week before the East final – leading to the inevitable “rest versus rust” debate? Looks like it, while Chad Kelly is day-to-day to play for an Argos’ team with nothing on the line. Home field and Nick Arbuckle being better than Dustin Crum in a battle of back-up quarterbacks will sway this game Toronto’s way by more than a field goal!
Friday’s second game is the big one with Winnipeg needing to win in B-C and extend their consecutive years of being in the C-F-L playoffs to 10. The Lions are resting Nathan Rourke, just as they did in the second half last week against Calgary. I’m saying the Bombers get it done and leave the Stamps outside the post-season. Winnipeg prevails by less than a field goal!
Saturday’s first game is another battle of back-up quarterbacks with Taylor Powell for Edmonton against Jack Coan for Saskatchewan. While the Roughriders are pretty certain that Trevor Harris won’t play, the same can’t be said for Cody Fajardo with the Elks – again, considering Edmonton has a bye into the West final! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Riders win by less than a field goal and advance to the West semi-final next week in B-C!
At the same time on Saturday is a match-up of two teams who were supposed to be contenders this year, but failed miserably, as 1-16 Ottawa goes to 5-12 Hamilton. Both have been out of playoff contention for at least a month! The Tiger-Cats squeak the last one out at home by less than a field goal!!
After last week’s 1-3, I need to get all four of these predictions correct in order to finish above 60 per cent! Wish me luck, I think I’m gonna need it!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
