The City of Yorkton will receive a large share of federal/provincial infrastructure funding for water supply and wastewater projects.
About half of the $73 million allocated under the program will go towards increasing Yorkton’s wastewater treatment capacity.
Nine other communities and municipalities also have projects approved. Each one will need to contribute money as well.
Big River will plan, design and construct new municipal water and sanitary sewer infrastructure. The total cost will be in the neighborhood of $3.7 million. Shellbrook will modernize its existing water treatment plant with a total cost of more than $14 million.
