Score first at home – check. Respond to Moose Jaw’s pushback – check. Get a victory over the Warriors – check!

The Saskatoon Blades executed what they wanted to do and needed to do Friday, out-scoring Moose Jaw 7-4 before 2,905 fans at SaskTel Centre. Cooper Williams gave the Bridge City Bunch a 1-0 lead four minutes into the contest, the first time in three games the Blue and Gold had opened the scoring on home ice. Then, whenever the Warriors scored, the Blades responded with at least one goal – meaning they never trailed in the contest – with the big response being when Saskatoon tallied three straight times to close out the second period and go to the second intermission with a 5-2 lead. Kazden Mathies (pictured) paced the Bridge City Bunch with a power play goal and three assists, Williams added a second tally, while Hayden Harsanyi, Yegor Gusev, Jack Kachkowski and Kain Martiniuk scored as well for the 3-2-1 Blue and Gold. Martiniuk’s goal closed out the game scoring and was the 16-year-old left winger’s first career W-H-L goal. Captain and defenceman Brayden Klimpke chipped in a pair of assists for the Blades, who out-shot Moose Jaw 41-23. Riley Thorpe paced the 2-3-0 Warriors with a goal and an assist. After having breaks of five and six days between their fourth, fifth and sixth games, Saskatoon is right back on the ice Saturday night, hosting the Regina Pats. Game time is 7 o’clock at SaskTel Centre with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 6:45. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show conversations with head coach Dan Da Silva, Mathies and Martiniuk plus the official game summary from the W-H-L website…..
