More people have been testing positive for COVID-19 and Influenza but numbers remain low across Saskatchewan, according to the latest Community Respiratory Illness Surveillance Program (CRISP) Situation Report.
For COVID-19 there were 12 cases reported this week, five among individuals aged 20-64 years and seven among those aged 65 and older. The numbers look fairly similar for those aged 65 and older for Influenza, with six of the 14 cases reported this week among that age range.
There were 28 outbreaks associated with respiratory viruses in high-risk areas this period. Most were caused by Rhinovirus at 21 outbreaks. Influenza and COVID-19 both had three outbreaks and RSV caused one outbreak.
No ICU admissions related to COVID-19, Influenza, or RSV were reported during this reporting period. Calls to 811 regarding Influenza like illness and hospitalizations related to Influenza did increase in recent weeks but remain at low levels. Over the past month, one Influenza-related death and one COVID-19-related death were reported as well.
Positive tests for RSV remain low and stable, and Rhinovirus, or the common cold, continues to be the respiratory virus found most commonly in the province.
Saskatchewan residents are now able to book there flu and COVID-19 vaccinations as they roll out across the province.
