As flu season ramps up, pharmacies across the province are starting to offer vaccination clinics.
Billy Cheung, Head of Pharmacy at Pharmasave, says provincial levels of both Covid and Influenza are low but increasing.
People looking for protection can start to book vaccination appointments as early as Tuesday the 13th.
He says last year, just 22 per cent of Saskatchewan residents received their flu shots.
“One of the things that people talk to (us about) is ‘do we really need a flu shot?’…We know, based on the data, the flu can impact anyone. It doesn’t matter what age you are, how healthy you are.”
He adds that not only does the vaccine protect you, but also those around you who may be more vulnerable.
“It’s really both for themselves and for their family and their community. It’s something to storngly consider. We have something to help minimize these types of infecion risks.”
He says flu shots typically offer protection for 6 months, which covers the entirety of flu season, which runs from October until April. To book an appointment, he says either call your pharmacy or visit 4flu.ca.
