On September 29th Agrifoods International Cooperative Ltd. pled guilty in Saskatoon Provincial Court to a violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020.
The company was charged after failing to ensure that only trained operators are required or permitted to operate powered mobile equipment, resulting in a serious injury of a worker. Two additional charges were withdrawn.
Total fines and surcharges the company has to pay is $100,000.
The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on November 20, 2023, in Saskatoon when a worker was seriously injured, after being pinched between a semi tractor and a milk tanker trailer while working as a wash bay attendant.
