Agriculture Week is a time to strengthen ties between farmers, ranchers and the general public.
Less than two per cent of people have direct connections to the farm, so it is important to provide accurate information on how crops are grown and animals raised.
“All you have to is to go on social media to see some of those mistruths that are being spread,” said Clinton Monchuk, executive director of Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan. “Having an opportunity to get the truth out is hugely beneficial to our industry.”
Several agricultural organization have produced online tools with bite-sized information that is easily understood.
Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan is hosting an online photo contest this month. This includes farm scenes, farm faces, farm animals and Saskatchewan grown foods. You can vote for your favorite photo and post it online using #CelebrateAg
