The Saskatoon Police Service is giving Indigenous people a look at police work as a career during the annual Indigenous recruitment event.

The event is geared towards Indigenous people aged 17 and older but anyone is able to register. This is the second year the event has taken place.

Constable Nicholas Horvath says the event helps to provide a general idea of what a career in policing looks like.

“Attendees can expect to have the ability to meet with other Indigenous officers, speak with our recruiting, as well as see some hands-on demonstrations from various units we have within our service.”

Horvath says the event is especially important to the SPS because of the large percentage of Indigenous people in Saskatoon.
