The Saskatchewan NDP is raising concerns about a pharmacy system outage that affected pharmacies across the province on September 28.

According to the opposition, the disruption prevented some patients from filling prescriptions and caused delays at pharmacies, including in Saskatoon.

In a news release, Keith Jorgenson, Associate Shadow Minister of Health, said the government should have provided more public communication during the outage.

The opposition also cited previous findings from the Provincial Auditor regarding risks related to Saskatchewan eHealth’s disaster recovery, service levels, and I-T change management processes.

The release connects the outage to broader concerns about Saskatchewan’s healthcare system and references several recent healthcare-related issues that have received public attention. The opposition is calling for improvements in healthcare system management and government accountability.
