More than 200 protective services personnel from across Saskatchewan have being recognized for their long service to the province.

Recipients of the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal were honoured this past Thursday during a ceremony in Saskatoon hosted by Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre and Provincial Secretary Jamie Martens.

A total of 204 individuals will receive the medal this year in recognition of 25 or more years of exemplary service. Recipients come from a wide range of professions, including police, fire services, corrections, border services, the RCMP, Canadian Armed Forces, and mobile crisis and family violence outreach services.

Martens says the medal recognizes the outstanding contributions of protective services personnel and their role in strengthening communities and supporting public safety across Saskatchewan.

Two additional Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal ceremonies are scheduled to take place in Regina later this month.
