The Saskatoon Blades announced Wednesday that they have signed 2011-born forward Mason West to a W-H-L Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The 6-foot forward from Monticello, Minnesota, was selected in the fifth round of the 2026 Prospects Draft. Following is the news release from the Bridge City Bunch…..

Blades ink 2011-born forward West to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the signing of 2011-born forward Mason West to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 6-foot forward was selected in the fifth round (95th overall) by Saskatoon at the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.

“Mason is a hockey player through and through,” said Blades Director of Scouting Dan Tencer. “He plays a powerful and relentless brand of hockey and has the same passion for a huge shot block as he does for a goal. He is a true driver when he’s on the ice and has the talent to produce offensively, along with the size and grit to impact the game without the puck on his stick. He’s a fantastic young man from a great family, and we look very forward to his continued development on the road to being an impact player for the Blades in the future.”

The Monticello, MN native played 12 regular season games last season with the Minnesota’s High Performance (MNHP 14U) MN Polars, scoring six goals and three assists. The left-handed shot shined in tournament through 2025-26. At B14 – District 5, West scored four goals and two assists in five games. The 14-year-old forward added a goal and three assists at the Toronto Exposure Cup with the MN Lakers U15 squad. West scored six goals and two assists in five games with the Lakers at the King of Springs Tournament as well.
