Several areas of Saskatoon experienced a 1-in-5-year rainfall event on Wednesday night.

Between Wednesday at 11:30 pm and Thursday at 1:15 am, average rainfall across the city was recorded at 17 milimetres, with the highest accumulation of 27 mm occurring in neighbourhoods east of Circle Drive East and south of College Drive.

Although there were reports of manhole covers popping off due to significant rainfall, the City says no major flooding concerns have been reported.

At peak intensity, last night’s storm was producing 158 milimetres of rain per hour according to the City.
