President Donald Trump says the United States is seriously considering renaming one of the Great Lakes as the relationship between the US and canada worsens over trade.

Trump posted on Truth Social Tuesday morning that he’s thinking of changing the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America.”

The U.S. introduced a new round of 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian exports on Saturday, targeting Canadian goods worth $28 billion, including hockey sticks, honey, and textiles. Canada is expected to announce retaliatory measures on Tuesday which will go into effect September 8.
