A 52-year-old man from the RM of Martin, near Moosomin, has been charged with fraud following a report of altered cattle brands at a farm in the area.
On July 6, Livestock Services of Saskatchewan received the report. A joint investigation was conducted by Moosomin RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Livestock Investigator, and Livestock Services of Saskatchewan, and as a result, 99 of the 197 head of cattle inspected carried an altered brand being applied over-top of the original brand. The remaining 98 were branded fraudulently with a new brand.
Kelly Stephen is now charged with one count, altering a brand on cattle and one count, fraud over $5000. He is scheduled to appear in court September 15th.
