The Saskatoon Fire Department rescued someone who was trapped, up to their waist in mud over the weekend.

Sunday at 1:12 p.m., crews received the distress call from an area off Highway 60 and Valley Road.

Firefighters arrived to find the caller yelling for help in an extreme remote location. Rescue crews say equipment was shuttled to the patient through a heavily treed and overgrown area along a slough.

Once removed from the area, the caller was assessed for injuries and transferred to ambulance personnel.

The scene was turned over to RCMP for further investigation.
