Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after an officer-involved, non-fatal shooting occurred early Tuesday morning in Regina.

At 2:10 a.m. police were called to a home in the 800 block of Elphinstone Street for a report of a man shooting a crossbow and threatening occupants inside the home.

Officers arrived to find three people inside- evacuating a woman and a child.

As they were inside, officers got into an altercation with the man with a crossbow. Two officers discharged their firearms, injuring him, before giving him first aid on scene until EMS arrived and took him to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation found the 35 year-old man pointed the crossbow at two responding officers.

As a result of the investigation, the man is charged with:

• Two counts Assault a Peace Officer With a Weapon
• Uttering Threats

The 35 year-old male will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on July 23.
