Saskatchewan’s largest city had a tornado warned storm on Friday evening. Social media was rife with photos and videos of a large cloud formation with rotation on the city’s north end. The tornado warning extended north including Aberdeen, Martensville, Warman and Langham. The storm didn’t extend to the south side of Saskatoon with some neighbourhoods receiving no rain or hail.
There was hail on Saskatoon’s north and west side with Dalmeny Road appearing to be covered in slush or snow. Meota and Cochin reported golf ball sized hail. There was loonie to golf ball sized hail in Meadow Lake.
Tornado warnings were also issued for Leask, Mistawasis and Parkside, RM of Meeting Lake, Meota and Battlefords Provincial Park, Perdue, Outlook, Glenside, Turtleford as well as south of Moose Jaw and in the southeast, west of Weyburn. Once the storm passed and the clouds cleared, the northern lights came out.
