Pelican Narrows RCMP say 36-year-old Colin Ballantyne and 32-year-old Alyson Custer, both from Pelican Narrows were in provincial court on Thursday facing a laundry list of charges after police responded to a report of forcible confinment.
The call came in Tuesday and the RCMP allege a man had assaulted another individual who had also been prevented from leaving. The victim reported non-life-threatening injuries to police
Further investigation led to officers seizing two firearms, an imitation firearm, ammunition, approximately 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a small amount of fentanyl, cash and trafficking paraphernalia at the home.
Police also say the male suspect assaulted a police officer, and tried unsuccessfully to escape, during his arrest. The police officer was not seriously injured.
Custer faces 16 charges while Ballantyne faces the same 16 plus another nine including assault and unlawful confinement.
36-year-old Colin Ballantyne and 32-year-old Alyson Custer, both from Pelican Narrows, are each charged with:
– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
– one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
– two counts, careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
– two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code
– two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
– two counts, carry a concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code;
– two counts, possession of a firearm without a license, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
– two counts, remove a serial number on a firearm, Section 108(1)(a), Criminal Code.
Colin Ballantyne is also charged with:
– one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
– one count, unlawful confinement, Section 279, Criminal Code;
– one count, assault peace officer, Section 270(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, resist peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
– two counts, possession of a firearm knowing its possession in unauthorized, 92(1), Criminal Code; and
– three counts, possession of a firearm while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.
