After an eight hour standoff on Tuesday, a 43-year-old woman was taken into custody.

The standoff, at a home in the 2500 block of Melrose Avenue, included members of the Police and Crisis Team assisted by members of the Tactical Support Unit.

The woman was wanted on outstanding criminal code warrants.

She was released from police custody on an undertaking for admission to hospital under The Mental Health Services Act.
