Saskatoon City Services
City Hall will be closed on July 1.
The Remai Modern is open as is Nutrien Playland but all Saskatoon Public Library locations will be closed on Wednesday, July 1.
You don’t have to pay for parking on Canada Day.
Garbage, Recycling, and Organics have collections as scheduled. Check your Collection Calendar.
The Material Recovery Centre and Landfill are open on Wednesday, July 1 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The Compost Depot is open on Wednesday, July 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Civic centre that are open include Lakewood, Lawson, Shaw Centre, and Saskatoon Field House.
The weather may not be conducive, but Lathey, Mayfair, George Ward and Riversdale Pools are open to Public Swim from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Fireworks
On Canada Day low-hazard fireworks can only be discharged on private property between the hours of dusk and 11:00 p.m.
Low-hazard fireworks are designed for public recreational use and include some roman candles and sparklers, among others, and travel less than 50m (160ft) high.
Canada Day Transit
After the fireworks are over on Canada Day you can grab a free bus home either north of the river from 3rd Avenue and 19th Street or south of the river at Victoria Avenue and 11th Street.
The City of Saskatoon says Access Transit will run holiday hours until 11 p.m.
And fare adjustments go into effect on July 1st. saskatoontransit.ca/fares
Canada Day Parade
Various downtown roads will have closures and lane restrictions from Monday, June 29 at 5:00 p.m. to Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 a.m. for the annual Canada Day event. Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around the event area.
The following roads will be closed:
– Spadina Crescent from 2nd Avenue S roundabout to 4th Avenue S
– Traffic Bridge (Victoria Avenue) from 19th Street E to 11th Street E
– 2nd Avenue S from Saunders Place to Spadina Crescent
– Saskatchewan Crescent E from Idylwyld Crescent to Broadway Avenue
– McPherson Avenue from Saskatchewan Crescent E to 11th Street E
– Eastlake Avenue from 12th Street E to Saskatchewan Crescent E
