The Saskatoon Police Service has laid charges following a series of recent investigations.
Officers have arrested and charged a 14-year-old in relation to a robbery that involved weapons in the 100 block of Primrose Drive on March 9. That evening, police responded to a liquor store after it was reported that a group of six females brandished a machete and bear spray as they stole several bottles of alcohol.
Also, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit have charged a youth male with numerous firearms related offences following an investigation into a shooting that occurred last Friday. At 7:50 a.m., police responded to a weapons complaint in the 3800 block of Fairlight Drive, where a male had attended the home, presented a firearm, and fired a shot at the home. Both males then fled the scene prior to police arrival. Now, a 17-year-old male has been apprehended in Regina by Regina Police Service on his outstanding warrant. The 17-year-old male has been charged with multiple Criminal Code firearms offences.
Third, Saskatoon Police have charged a man that had been arrested at Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre earlier this month. The 27-year-old man was arrested for being involved in a reported assault with a weapon involving a taxi driver on May 18. That night, police responded to a parking lot in the 200 block of 33rd Street West. Upon arrival, they located a taxi driver that had been the victim of a discharged BB gun after a fare refused to pay and was asked to exit the taxi. The 51-year-old male taxi driver was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Lastly, a woman has been charged following her arrest on May 14th in relation to a bear spray incident at a gas station. At 9:50 p.m., police were called to a gas station in the 1600 block of 20th Street West. Several staff were suffering from the effects of bear spray. They reported that a woman had been in the store damaging items and was escorted outside by security guards. The woman was handed bear spray by another male in the parking lot. She then returned inside the business and deployed bear spray before running away. A 27-year-old woman has now been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Mischief.
