An overdose alert has been issued by the Saskatchewan Health Authority for Regina.
The Regina Overdose Outreach Team and Regina Fire and Protective Services report 100 overdoses between June 1st to 10th with as many as 22 overdoses reported on June 5th, and 17 on June 7th.
At least two suspected overdose-related deaths have occurred during this period.
Naloxone was effective in many instances. Naloxone will counter the effects of opioids, but not other substances like benzodiazepines.
One case reported as a pink-colored product and the drugs could be sold as methamphetamine and contain unknown opioids, benzodiazepines, or methamphetamine.
