Well-known country musician Donnie Parenteau is one of nine people receiving the Saskatchewan Order of Merit at a ceremony in Regina.
The honor is given to people from diverse professional fields and backgrounds. They are educators, artists, mentors and champions who have helped clear the path for others.
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit is the highest honour the province can bestow. It has only been presented to 291 individuals since 1991.
