“Everyone within 70 kilometres can see this thing.”
That’s from a Hepburn resident regarding the “Lobstick Fire” that is burning within the Nisbet Forest, between MacDowall and Duck Lake.
The fire, which started on May 25, remains “not contained,” with the exact cause currently unknown.
It is burning about 40 kilometres southwest of Prince Albert, with highly visible smoke billowing near Highway 11.
Currently, firefighting crews from Duck Lake, MacDowall, and Wahpeton have been actively battling the blaze, utilizing water bombers and heavy equipment.
There are currently 5 active wildfire situations burnign across the province according to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
