Saskatoon fire crews responded to a grass fire at the junction of Highway 7 and Township Road 364 Tuesday afternoon.
Flames were observed around 2:47 p.m., as well as high winds and dry conditions in the area.
As of Tuesday at 5:00p.m., crews were still on scene actively extinguishing and containing the fire.
A cause has not been determined.
Further west, crews with the Kindersley Fire Department responded to a small field fire east of Kindersley Tuesday evening as dangerous fire conditions continue to build across west-central Saskatchewan.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at around 5 p.m., approximately one mile north of Highway 7.’
Crew on site kept the fire contained before it could spread significantly, though scorching temperatures and strong winds created conditions that could have quickly pushed the fire out of control.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
There are currently five active wildfires burning in the province according to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
