Around 10 a.m. Saturday morning the Saskatoon Police Service says a man was seen striking a gas line with an axe outside a church in the 3400 block of Fairlight Drive.
Police say it was fortunate that attempts to sever the line at the church in Fairhaven were not successful and no one was injured.
Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Hate Crime Unit are assisting in the investigation due to the offence occurring at a religious gathering place.
The male is described as 25-35 years of age with a dark goatee. He was wearing a black jacket with a hood, grey sweatpants and black running shoes with white socks.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or Crime Stoppers.
